Zombie Ed is at it again! Saturday 14th November 2015 will be the 9th Annual Festival of Zombie Culture, a full day of zombie movies, games, guests and entertainment. Terror 4 Fun are putting on the same mix of classic, new, contemporary and foreign zombie feature films. They will also have the hugely popular Arcade of the Dead, whewre you can try your hands at some of the Ultimate Zombie games of All Time! Tonnes of consoles, controllers, and including the ever popular key board for ‘Typing of the Dead…'

The Best Dressed Zombie Competition is again on the cards with a spectacular prize for the best zombie in attendance...

Gavin Gore will be leading their Team of Make Up Artists, turning you into a rotting flesh muncher, so if you need making up then dress as a zommer and get your make up done once you arrive…

As usual, a number prolific Zombie Authors will be coming down to meet, greet & sign zombie books for everyone coming... There will also be Goodie Bags for the first people through the door, spot prizes, giveaways, book signings, horror traders, themed food and drink and loads to do through-out the entire event…

Gaming at SCARdiff 2014 with Zombie Shop

It all started during a conversation with Wayne Simmons, podcaster, journo and author of the awesome zombie novels Flu and Fever and founder of SCARdiff. In between discussions over what might happen to World War Z the movie (long before we knew about the 'zants'), being in rawk bands and tatoo conventions, we decided it'd be great if we could get people who might not necessarilty be 'gamers' to try their hand at the best of what zombie gameing has to offer.

Horrify Me - Professional Horror Portraits

Horrify Me is an incredible new Horror Portrait Service that takes the concept of family-friendly smiles, back-lighting and capturing a 'unique moment you will treasure forever' turns it in it's head, stabs it through the heart with a wooden steak, douses it in holy water and dashes out it's brain!

The creator of Horrify Me, Rick Jones, has a passion for horror movies. He is also an exeptionally talented photographer, graphic designer and he's even built his own full size R2 unit in his workshop (major win in fan-boy territory).

Rick combined his passions and after he secured a couple of book covers for Lisa Richardson's Blog of the Dead series decided to offer one of the coolest services we've ever seen.


 

Ever wanted to show your darker side? Want to transform yourself a flesh-hungry Zombie? Horrify Me gives you that chance.

Horrify Me is massively gruesome fun and photo shoots can get pretty messy. You'll need to bring your own costumes or outfits and althgouh Rick and the team can do thier best at keeping your clothes clean you'll probably want to bring something you don't mind getting more than a little fake blood on.

This is classic horror like the movies you know and love made photo-real.

Rick says "Some modern horror movies are pretty rubbish to be honest. Sparkly vampires? Romantic zombies? No thanks.

I like to keep my horror portraits 'old school' which reference the golden age of 1980s horror. I create proper 'Romero' zombies: Ugly, rotten, blood drenched ghouls, lost in a tragic thoughtless existence, that have nothing attractive about them whatsoever. They're the living dead, not broken-hearted lost souls from chick-flicks!"

A standard photo shoot with Horrify Me covers up to three people and larger groups are available with a small additional cost per person, so get a few mates together and you can share the fun and the cost too.

Whilst our interest is very firmly in the zombie camp Horrify Me don't just do zombies. If demonic possession or blood-sucking vampires, the scary kind not the sparkly ones, are more your thing they're just as good at bringing that horrific vision to life... undead.

SCARdiff 2014: City of Horror Giveaway

SCARdiff is Cardiff's annual expo celebrating all things horror: books, comics, movies, cosplay, the works.

2014′s event is an ALL AGES show, scheduled for Sunday 19th October at a brand new venue, Cardiff Masonic Hall

Zombie Shop have teamed up with the SCARdiff crew to offer a free copy of City of Horror to one lucky horror fan. Book your tickets before 27th June for a chance to win yourself a copy and show your friends once and for all that if the zombies come, you're tripping them first!

Zombie Shop will be demoing a number of Zombie Board, Card and Dice Games at SCARdiff this year.

City of Horror is a backstabbing survival-horror game. A shambling horde is invading the city. The goal is to survive the assault. (Un)fortunately, surviving often means sacrificing some of your fellow players to the undead...

 Each player controls several characters with different abilities; these characters can move to various limited-capacity locations, which they can then barricade and scavenge for items and weapons. Critical situations, such as zombies breaking in and eating a character, are resolved using vote.

 The basic game mechanics are the same as Mall of Horror, but City of Horror differs in both materials and game play in a number of ways: the city map changes each game, twenty characters are included, they can use antidotes (or die if there aren't enough to go around), action cards become more scarce as the game progresses and you can gain points with other stuff than surviving characters...

SCARdiff 2013 was a drop dead success and following a massive amount of positive feedback 2014 is set to be bigger and better than before.

SCARdiff 2014 is scheduled for Sunday 19th October at a brand new venue, the Cardiff Masonic Hall.

SCARdiff 2013 Horror Expo Show Report

10.00 am on Sunday 27th October 2013 and the doors to Cardiff’s Mercure Holland Hotel open - Cardiff’s first Horror Expo SCARdiff had officially begun!

SCARdiff was co-produced by Fantasy Events, Shock Horror magazine and Horror author Wayne Simmons; a veritable smorgasbord of horror goodness.

The one day event was held at the rather well appointed (fully licensed bar, always a plus, nice toilets, conference rooms and good sized trading hall) and was jam-packed with horror writers, comic book artists, actors, producers, special effects artists, directors and horror fans alike.

The guests made themselves available throughout the day so it was easy to meet with your favourite and everyone was more than willing to answer questions and generally geek out on anything horror related.

The Q&A sessions were hosted by Colin McCracken, founder and editor of Zombiehamster.com and regular contributor to Rue Morgue, Diabolique, Shock Horror and more. The sessions were well received and tons of fun.

A number of films were shown including screenings of Out There, Shellshocked and Radio Silence.

Cosplayers were out in force featuring characters from and inspired by 2000AD, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Razorjack, Night of the Living Dead, Chucky, Interview with a Vampire, Little Red Riding Hood and more.

The trading hall was packed with all manner of horror goodness from the macabre to the bizarre from traders such as Mad Science Films, Retrodec, Gadmachine, Science Fiction Collectables, ShottleBop, Sovrin’s Crafts, Feast of Flesh, Drown Soda, Fish4Comics and Zombie Shop.

SCARdiff - A brand new Horror Expo comes to Cardiff

Co-produced by Fantasy Events SCARdiff is a brand new horror expo co-produced by Fantasy Events, horror author Wayne Simmons and Shock Horror Magazine.

SCARdiff is a one day event taking place at the Mercure Holland Hotel Cardiff on Sunday 27th October 2013.

SCARdiff will feature a multitude of horror fandom awesomeness including: writers, publishers, comic book artists, actors, special effects artists and directors.

The organisers want to keep things highly interactive so there will be a number of workshops, Q&A sessions, guest panels and film screenings throughout the day.

Confirmed guests include Dominic Brunt and Joanne Mitchell (BEFORE DAWN), bestselling horror author David Moody (AUTUMN, HATER), comic-book artist and colourist John Higgins (RAZORJACK, WATCHMEN), author Adam Millard (THE DEAD series), artist Simon Williams (BAD BLOOD), actor and filmmaker Anthony D.P. Mann, actor Body Rhodes (DEMONS), author Wayne Simmonds (FLU), director James Plumb (Night of The Living Dead) and director Simeon Halligan (SPLINTERED) and many more.

There will also be a number of EXpo EXclusive launches with the Shorts Showcase. The SCARdiff Shorts Showcase is curated by writer, critic and journalist, Colin McCracken. Outpost by Adam Baker

Outpost - Adam Baker's 2011 debut novel is a bitterly and chillingly bleak tale of isolation and desperation set on a derelict refinery platform in the Arctic Ocean.


They took to job to escape the World. They didn't expect the World to end.

Hope is dashed in one of the most inhospitable places on earth time and time again. Just when you think things can't get any worse another bombshell is dropped. The crew battles the environment, starvation, despair and something far more sinister as the world around them falls apart and they are left to fend for themselves through the long, dark Arctic winter.

The book's prose, punctuated with bold staccato exposition, pulls you through the tale at breakneck pace. The tale plays out like a classic 80's sci-fi action-horror with justified comparisons to The Thing, Alien and The Abyss.

Outpost is an edge of your seat tale about survival in the face of overwhelming odds but it is also about finding yourself and facing your demons.

It is a zombie novel, but not a typical zombie novel. City streets, military bases and farmhouses are replaced with the harsh chill of the Arctic and the science fiction undertones keep it fresh and engaging.

Outpost is easy to read and it is clear to see why Mr Baker has caught the attention of the mainstream. Outpost is a book that your auntie or uncle might read on holiday, you don't need pre-conceived notions about zombies or science fiction to tear through it like a pack of hungry ghouls and the characters are sympathetic, believable and engaging.

Turn down the lights and be sure to wrap up warm.
