Zombie Uprising - District 26 Zombie Airsoft Experience in Chesterfield

Zombie Shop attended the launch event of Chesterfield based air-softers Tac-House Spartan's brand new adrenaline-fueled Zombie Experience

Zombie Uprising: District 26

This is our story.

As we pulled up to the gate the armed security personal waved us down. This is it, Zombie Uprising: District 26. Through the restrictive acoustics of their gas-mask they directed into the compound where we parked up and awaited instruction from the other security personnel.

We saw other nervous faces peering out of their vehicles as a military land rover raced out of the undergrowth in a blaze of blue flashing lights. An armed escort leapt out and lead us into the undergrowth towards a command and control centre. We checked in with the sound of the infected ones echoing across the compound and little was said as we were directed into a transport. Once fully embarked we headed back out from the relative safety of the undergrowth.

District 26

As we burst through into the open the devastation became apparent, there really was no more room left in hell and the dead were walking the earth. Attracted by the sound of the vehicle a group of undead shambled towards us, a horde of blood-soaked corpses lumbered towards the land rover as it headed towards an impressive industrial complex.

Keeping clear of the walkers the land rover pulled up outside a set of large gates which opened as we arrived and more security personnel waved us in. Out we jumped and raced inside the gates, the ever present threat of the undead at our heels. Once inside the gates slammed shut and horde pressed against the barrier.

We received a overview of the situation. Selected due to our immunity to the airborne strain of the virus, we would be able to enter the contaminated zone without fear of being infected, unless of course the undead touched us or bit us, and in that case it was curtains.

A senior security adviser split us into deployment teams and briefed us of our mission. Time was of the essence, so after some brief weapons training and equipment issue, we were as ready as we were ever going to be.

We were assigned an armed escort who would lead us into the complex, but due to the nature of the infection he could only take us so far. We were in radio contact with control, "Red Team standing by.", all personnel present and ready, weapons locked and loaded, check. Stand by, Stand by.

Guns trained on the door, we headed into the dark, damp expanse of the abandoned complex.
Deep in the underbelly of the infected zone we heard them; moaning, groaning, shuffling and crawling... towards us. Through shadowy corridors and rooms we were lead until there out of the dark the rotting corpses lumbered, catching our escort off guard. A scuffle broke out and more of the undead joined the feeding frenzy as he fell. In the panic we raced to the only escape route we could find, a confined exit in the wall that lead to a staircase, in the dark, alone!

For the next couple of hours we raced from place to place in the abandoned complex. Making sporadic radio contact with HQ we explored the vast complex, fighting and fleeing the undead the whole time, hearts in our throats, fingers on triggers, breath ragged and short.

Stage by stage we came to understand the layout of the complex, finding clues and getting input and orders from control. We met up with the other teams, albeit fleetingly, and the undead lurched out of the dark as we raced our separate ways in pursuit of our individual team missions.

With ammunition low and adrenaline high the teams finally gathered in one place, defending each other with what little firepower we could now muster to keep the horde at bay. Our mission complete, we radioed control to request back-up. Command and control were being forced to abandon HQ, but they promised to send the land rovers to extract us.

As the final vehicle loaded the last of the survivors I was thrown a shotgun by one of the escaping survivors, and proceeded to unload the remainder of its shells into the oncoming horde, I kept them at bay but could not reach the rear doors myself, so instead of waiting to become a cheap meat-snack I ran... in the direction of our extraction.

As the motorised way out of this hell-hole set off it was all feeling very Black Hawk Down as jogged away from the destruction with a horde of walking corpses at my heels, 100 yards out from the extract point, with a horde of zombies on our tail, the driver stopped to pick me up.

As we pulled into the command and control centre we were inspected by a scientist, 'processed' and segregated very quickly; some to a military tent, others, including myself ended up in an outside fenced area. Once the dust settled it didn't take long to check our wristbands and realise it hadn't ended well for some of us. Let's hope the sacrifice wasn't in vain!

Do you think you've got what it takes to take on the horde at District 26, Will you survive?

ZombieXperience is the fastest growing Zombie Experience in the UK, they've surpassed all expectations, are opening new venues all over the country and have a dedicated hardcore following of zombie slayers who just can't get enough.

Don't get bit!
What is ZombieXperience?
ZombieXperience blends elements of improvised theatre, live action roleplay and mil-sim in an adrenaline-fueled battle against the walking dead in some of the most terrifying locations in the UK.

The SWAT Team. If they can't stop the zombies, what hope is there?
How does it work?
ZombieXperience is a fully immersive and sometimes deadly live action game that uses realistic looking air-soft weapons to allow you to put yourself through the paces of your favourite zombie movies, TV shows and video games. You start the game with a pistol or a shotgun. Ammunition is limited and the fate of humanity lies in your hands.

They're coming to get you Barbara.
Why choose ZombieXperience?
Unlike some zombie experiences, at ZombieXperience, the choices you make are up to you. You are given a mission, a goal or objective you must achieve, and how you achieve it is up to you. There's no set path, no 'right' way to win.

Danny Hatton, ZombieXperience's founder, put's the success down to an all encompassing passion for the zombie genre that they all share.

'ZombieXperience has been a success because we have all watched The Walking Dead, apocalypse movies, played zombie games and all asked ourselves that one question...

What would I do in a Zombie Apocalypse?

Well, now... with ZombieXperience, you get to find out.'

ZX founder Danny Hatton with the ZX crew
'ZombieXperience is not a one-off experience and we have a huge base of repeat customers who are taking up zombie slaying as a hobby. ZX events are not scripted or guided tours. Each event is unique, the gameplay is dynamic and we have more zombies than any other experience.'

Killing the undead sounds like a perfect way to spend time to us.

Zombie experiences at ZombieXperience start from £50 per person.

It's the Zombie Apocalypse... let's play!

Zombie Survival Weekender III

We've all wondered how we might survive a zombie apocalypse: gather weapons and supplies, batten down the hatches for a while and then head out to the country, away from the meta-hordes.

You might know how to face off against the undead, but it you've ever been out in a spot of unseasonable weather it might have dawned on you that, chances are, you're more likely to die of hunger, dehydration or hypothermia than a zombie bite - It's a thought that 'Major' Dom Spens, head of contingency planning and organiser of the Zombie Survival Weekender, has often pondered.

Ground control to Major Dom
“ZSW III is going to be a little different from past events. We will still have the aspects people have come to know and love, the beautiful location, the survival skills share, the zombie game… but there will be some differences…

We’re not on the island this time, the new location is just as good. in some ways its better! The event is set in 2016 and there will be a stronger roleplaying element, so you’ll want to read the back-story and prepare your own character background.” - Major Dom Spens.

What is the Zombie Survival Weekender?
The Zombie Survival Weekender is a mix of survival training, horror live action Roleplay (LARP) and a party in a variety of exciting and beautiful places in South Wales.

Zombie Survival Weekender is held in a variety if beautiful and inspiring locations including: isolated islands, creepy woodland, sand dunes, castles and mountains.

Stage 1 – Getting to Know You
The first section is the boring administrative bit, which covers important safety aspects of the weekend, and making sure everyone has settled, gets to know everyone else and has all the equipment they need for the weekend – Yes, there’s a minimum equipment list to get you through and it is probably a good idea to prepare a more comprehensive survival kit.

Stage 2 - Share the Zombie Love
Like everything else in life, the more you put in, the more you get out. The second stage of the weekend is a training exercise, a useful skill share session where you can learn and teach your personal experience in useful survival subjects such as: Fire craft, First aid, Distilling water, Knives, Map Reading, Camp-craft, Foraging, Shelter, Knots and much more.

Stage 3 – Brains!!!
And most people's favourite part of the weekend is the zombie-themed-live-action-non-combat-horror-roleplaying game. After the skills share and everyone’s settled, the party begins and everyone enjoys a BBQ and a drink, or four.

Achievement Unlocked - Hall of Brains
At every Zombie Survival Weekender there are of course prizes.
The standard prize is free entry to the next event they attend, and a certificate. There may also be prizes for: Sole Survivor, Best Survival Kit, Skills Expert, Chief Infector, Zombie Commander and Riddle Master.

The most valuable thing you can take away from Zombie Survival Weekender is knowledge, and new-found friends.

Testimonials
“Epic weekend and utterly genius concept! Can't wait for the next one.”

“I must say it was a pretty awesome night, it's pretty tense getting cornered by slow moving brain hungry zombie dudes in the dark! It was a good laugh and a good night, thanks for setting this up Dom, looking forward to the next one.”

“My 'passing out in the bushes' tactic seemed to work quite well for me.”

“Tell them I died doing something awesome.”

Zombie Survival Weekender III Aftermath: The Beginning of the End takes place in a secret location in South Wales on Saturday 28th to Sunday 29th July 2012.
