The Crewdson Shoot

Seattle has seens it's fair share of zombies, what with the walks and ZomBcon. But last night Zombies invaded again, this time at the Luna Park Cafe, as first year students from the commercial photography class at Seattle Central Community College took over the Cafe on Sunday night, and stayed on until the small hours this morning all for the sake of just one photograph.

The assignment given to the class was to create a single photograph in the style of art photographer Gregory Crewdson whose often surreal photograophs are elaborately staged depictions of American homes and neighborhoods.

His work, which can sell for over $100,000 per image, involves a large crew, and complex elements that are intricately staged and lit.

To emulate his style the class chose the cafe and the concept of a zombies attack in this year's attempt at 'The Crewdson Shoot', that all first year students undertake.

The survivors are holed up in a cafe and the zombies are trying to break in the front door.

Looks like a Class A 50's Z-Movie to us and we can't wait to see the results.

'RAMMBOCK' DVD

Sadly, most foreign language films don't tend to get the broad coverage we'd prefer in our now predominantly Showcase Theatre Nation, particularly foregin language horror. So, it's pretty exciting when little gems such as this get their DVD release.

Things don't look good.

RAMMBOCK was a german 2010 film from director Marvin Kren. The story follows Schnook (Michael Fuith) who heads to his ex-girlfriend’s apartment block to make amends and instead gets trapped inside by a 28 DAYS LATER-style viral outbreak. Cue running and screaming and some insanely tense set-pieces.

Sehr erschreckend

With comparisons to [REC] and The Horde abound and this stunning trailer Zombie Shop gives RAMMBOCK two thumbs up - well worth picking up if you missed it, after all, it doesn;t have 'zombie' or 'of the dead' in the title.

Anti-Zombie Fortress - Don't forget the noseplugs?

Stuck for ideas on where you might hole up when the Z-pocalypse goes down? Local Church or Shopping Mall just not cutting it?

The Daily What would appear to have found a solution.

Fukuoka Fortress - saviour or blatant horde magnet?

This abandoned coal mine shaft is in Fukuoka, Japan — so quite a way to travel once the Zulus come a chompin'.

We all know Zombies flock to survivors regardless of how safe they think they are, call it animal magnetist, preternatural senses or just plan bad luck. That being the case, we recoomend keeping the gates to the actual mine shaft firmly closed, otherwise Mr Zebedee is gonna be pouring down that hole like the sands of time.

Not sure I would want to spend the rest of my days at the top of a funnel of funk once the writhing little rotters start piling up - Oust just ain't gonna cut it.

At least there's some swings and slides nearby if you're stuck for things to do come the end of the world.

What is it with Zombie Games?

Who'd have thunk it? Mr Romero makes a cute little indie move about changing stereotypes, adds a little undead action and 40 years or so later we're all spending far too much time using up bandwidth on free Internet games.

Well worth checking out.

Zombies seem to be the perfect excuse for a free game. The formula is simple:

Zombies + weapons + smashing, bashing and blasting = Zombie Game!!

Dead Island Cover Art Revealed

The jury is out on the cover art for Techland's First Person Zombie-Thwacker due out later this year.
