Pride and Prejudice and Zombies - First Trailer

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Jane Austen's classic tale with a twist by Seth Grahame-Smith is coming to the big screen. The movie adaptation stars Lily James (Downton Abbey and Cinderella) as Elizabeth Bennett, Lena Headey and Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), Matt Smith (Doctor Who), and Sam Riley (Maleficent), the tale throws a decidedly undead spin on the revisionist version of Jane Austen’s original novel.

Centered around the love between those of differing social classes set in 19th century England, with reading and music replaced with regular lessons from far-eastern martial arts tutors, our the protagonists also face a new challenge - an army of undead zombies!

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is scheduled for release on 5th February 2016.

They will also have the hugely popular Arcade of the Dead, whewre you can try your hands at some of the Ultimate Zombie games of All Time! Tonnes of consoles, controllers, and including the ever popular key board for ‘Typing of the Dead…'

The Best Dressed Zombie Competition is again on the cards with a spectacular prize for the best zombie in attendance...

Gavin Gore will be leading their Team of Make Up Artists, turning you into a rotting flesh muncher, so if you need making up then dress as a zommer and get your make up done once you arrive…

As usual, a number prolific Zombie Authors will be coming down to meet, greet & sign zombie books for everyone coming... There will also be Goodie Bags for the first people through the door, spot prizes, giveaways, book signings, horror traders, themed food and drink and loads to do through-out the entire event…

World War Z - Glasgow in Ruins

As filming for World War Z gets underway parts of Glasgow will be in ruins for the next couple of weeks.

Last month an open casting was held to recruit a horde of local zombies and now a cast and crew of around 1,200 will be shooting scenes in George Square and other locations across Glasgow city centre.

Glasgow was chosen as a location for World War Z because of the architecture, wide roads and layout, which is grid based like most US cites.

The film is set in Philadelphia so false shop fronts, traffic signals, road signs and American cars were being brought in to complete the illusion.

The production is likely to bring in excess of £2m to the local economy according to Glasgow City Council.
City Council leader, Gordon Matheson said: "We are ready to welcome the World War Z production to Glasgow."

"There is great anticipation in the city ahead of such a huge film coming here."

With recent revelations of the movie's synopsis showing the film set during the outbreak, rather than during with the aftermath, as in Max Brook's 2006 novel, fans are worried, but aren't we always?

Every big budget zombie movie in recent years has been a financial success. The future of such a large-scale production could have implications for the zombiephiles wish-list of movies we'd love to see made.

Less than happily married doctors William and Dakota Block (Josh Brolin and Marley Shelton) find their nightshift inundated with townsfolk ravaged by gangrenous sores and a suspiciously vacant look in their eyes. Among the casualties brought in is Cherry Darling (Rose McGowan), a go-go dancer whose leg was ripped clean off during a roadside attack, and El Wray (Freddy Rodriguez), a mysterious drifter with a past. Cherry Darling  might have been knocked off her feet and down on her luck, but she hasn’t danced her last number...

When the mysterious virus turns the hospital patients into enraged bloodthirsty maniacs, Cherry and El Wray lead a gang of accidental soldiers out into the gore-filled night, hurtling towards a destiny that will leave millions infected, countless dead and a just the last lucky few heading for the last safe corner of PLANET TERROR.

Planet Terror is no typical zombie movie. It's fast-paced with comic book action and a healthy topping of grindhouse cheese. The 'missing reel' gag is a hilarious concept, but we can;t help wondering if the movie would actually be better if the footage was included. Watch a second of third time and it just bugs you.

 

Quentin Tarrntino - It's him, just in BDUs!

Loose yourself and it's fantastic fun with superb performances and some of the coolest cameos you ever thought possible. Dip out out the 'I'm along for the ride' mindset and you might be left thinking it's all just a bit silly.

It's a beer and pretsels flick, superb for a zack-attack quick fix and the eye candy and innuendo are first class. Plant Terror gets a Zombie Shop seal of approval.

Tokyo Zombie - The Japanese Shaun of The Dead

If one genre just isn't enough, an offer is made by script-writers and producers alike.

"What if we take <this>, and add <this>?"

That's exactly what happened for the makers of Tokyo Zombie."What if we take Ju-Jitsu, and add Zombies?"

Directed by Sakichi Satô, Tokyo Zombie is a martial arts zombie comedy, based on Yusaku Hanakuma's manga of the same name.

Something to take seriously? Not in the slightest. If you're used to the over the top antics and slapstick humour of Asian cinema then this is for you. If not, probably not a movie high on your 'must see' list.

Blue-collar workers Fujio and Mitsuo share a dream, to become famous fighters. Tokyo has becomes occupied by zombies, the dead walk and the two men face a crisis of mankind. Despite the turn of events they have a plan. Real men go to Russia. After an unfortunate turn of events, the two are separated before they can fulfill their dream together. Through the trials of a dystopian future their dream will not die and one turn of fate leads them back together, to face their destinies in a way they could never have imagined.

Tokyo Zombie is Wacky with a capital W, and that W has been drawn over again and again with a big magic marker, then highlighted and coloured in with fluorescent paint, and then had a spotlight aimed at it. Zany... and then some. Not your typical zombie movie, not even a typical movie, but if you like Asian cinema comedy, not to be missed.

Sometimes known in Tokyo Zombie as: the bald one, and the one with the Afro.

Dead Genesis: Trailer

Every once in a while there's something about a movie that makes it stand out from the crowd, and when it is an independent movie about zombies, it tends make an even more startling impression. Dead Genesis is one such picture.

The first five minutes of the film leaps up, grabs you by the short and curlies and yanks you right into the fray. 'Did they really just do that?'

Seven months have passed since the dead took over. Many cities and states have been abandoned and left to die. Several self-sufficient hunting groups have been established to take on the threat in a war aptly referred to as the 'War on Dead'.

Dead Genesis: Jillian Hurst (Emily Alatolo).

Jillian Hurst, a former news writer and amateur documentary maker, has set out to make a pro-war propaganda film to support the W.O.D. She joins up with a pack of renegade hunters known infamously to North America as 'the deadheads'. The moral dynamics and hardships of fighting in a war against the undead are told from the perspectives of the individual members of the group.

Unlike copycat cash-ins Dead Genesis has something to say. In the true spirit of Romero, Dead Genesis is thought provoking, has some incredible performances from the likes of Emily Alatolo (as Jillian Hurst) and Colin Paradine (as Korvin) as pace and drama that cements the film as something significantly above the average popcorn offering.

Dead Genesis was shot on a Panasonic HVX 200 with a single 32GB P2 card, with a crew of four and and cast that would chip in whenever they needed to make things work. Far from an amateurish affair, the documentary style cinematography are reminiscent of a high budget BBC drama, the Savini inspired effects are amazing and the editing first rate. The sum is far greater than the part and the final product belies the miniscule budget the film was pulled together with.

Directed by Reese Eveneshen, Dead Genesis was clearly made with an intense passion for the genre, unrelenting enthusiasm and incredible talent from everyone involved.

It is a fantastic piece of horror cinema - well worth checking out.

Stone offered Lead in "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies."

Emma Stone has already faced off against hordes of brain-munching undead in Zombieland and it looks like now the actress will even more firmly cement her place as queen of the zed-heads by picking up the lead role in the movie adaptation of the boobs 'n' bonnets 'n' zombies mash-up Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

The movie, directed by Craig Gillespie and produced by Lionsgate, takes the much -loved classic Jane Austen tale and slaps on a heavy dose Romero-esque action.

Our eternal heroine, Elizabeth Bennet’s quest for love and independence is further complicated by an outbreak of a deadly virus that means the dead just won;' stay dead and they have an insatiable appetite for human flesh.

Stone has just finished filming her role as Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man, which hits cinemas next summer.

Another World is set in a near post apocalyptic future where a biological warfare program goes wrong, and turns most of humanity to mindless, murderous creatures. Just the way we like our experimental genetic research.

The story centres around five characters, all still uninfected, trying to survive constant attacks from the infected. Each character represents a different aspect of human existence, a different world-view, and a different moral standpoint about the world and their place in it.

A Doctor, a professional soldier, a scientist, a young girl and a man with a dubious and immoral past.

They said five characters -  so who's missing?

The film takes place during the character's last six days. As the days progress, they listen to a radio show about the extinction of the dinosaurs which strikes a chord with their own desperate situation.

The virus takes to the sky in QUARANTINE 2: TERMINAL, the sequel that hits theaters next Friday, June 17th, from Samuel Goldwyn Films.

Zombies in Yorkshire

Walkers in the Yorkshire Dales may come across a terrifying sight this week if they stumble on to the set of a new zombie movie.

Before Dawn - Buckets of fake gore are promised.

Before Dawn, a film about a couple who go away for a weekend and come under attack from zombies, is being shot in the picturesque area this week.

The film, which promises "buckets of fake gore", is being directed by Emmerdale star Dominic Brunt.

Brunt, who plays mild-mannered vet Paddy in the soap, is also starring in the movie.
Before Dawn will be released in cinemas next year.
